The adverb of place could be used to point the direction. It can be put at the start of the sentence or the end of the sentence. But вот can be only put at the start of the sentence.  For example: Где ваш учебник? Вот он. (Where is the textbook? Here is.)

But in the question sentence, the adverb of place in answer sentence must be put at the end of the setence. For example:Где ваш школа? Она слева.  (Where is your school? Left side.)
